Jelena Ostapenko is a 25-year-old Latvian professional tennis player. She won the French Open singles title in 2017. Ostapenko is the first Latvian to win a Grand Slam singles tournament and the first unseeded player since 1933 to win the French Open.
On the ITF Women’s Circuit, she has seven singles and eight doubles titles. Her highest career ranking was achieved in March 2018 as world number 5 in women’s tennis.
Ostapenko wrote her name in the history books in the 2017 French Open when she famously won the competition and became the first-ever Latvian to win it.
It was not an easy title to win because the competition was super tough but she managed to triumph.
The 25-year-old prolific world-class tennis player rose to an all-time high in 2018 as number 5 in women’s tennis but has since dropped in rankings to number 14 in the world as we speak.
