Terry Wilson Bowden was born on 25 February 1956, in Douglas, Georgia USA, and is best known as a head football coach who has worked at the University of Akron and Salem University, among others. He is a son of the legendary coach, Bobby Bowden.
So just how rich is Terry Bowden as of late 2017? According to authoritative sources, this football coach has net worth of $13 million, with his wealth being accumulated from his career in the previously mentioned field. Reportedly, he has made more than $800,000 over the course of the last two years.
Terry comes from a sports-oriented family, with his father, the legendary football coach Bobby Bowden having worked for the Florida State Seminoles football team. When it comes to Terry’s education, he attended the West Virginia University, where he played football and was in the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. As he was a hard working student, Bowden graduated with magna cum laude in accounting, and subsequently he completed his post-graduate work in England, at Oxford University. Terry went on to pursue his career in football, becoming a graduate assistant at Florida State, and later on became the youngest head football coach in the nation, at the age of 26, when he began working at the Salem College in 1983. During his time there, Terry won West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title two times, certainly boosting his net worth.
In 1986, he began his work as an assistant coach at the University of Akron under Gerry Faust, but one year after that, he became the head coach at Samford University, where he directed the program’s move from Division III to Division I-AAA, finally achieving his goals in 1991. In 1992, he took a big step forward as he became the head football coach at Auburn University; his first season was hugely successful, as he became the first coach that was undefeated during his debut season in Division I. He remained successful until 1998, when he was faced with the harsh criticism for issues such as the behavior of his players and his problems with the administration.
Having left the position of a coach, Bowden accepted the opportunity to work as a studio analyst and commentator for ABC, and taking that position he covered numerous topics regarding college football. In addition, Terry became a sports journalist for Yahoo! Sports, and for a certain period of tim, he was the host of a radio talk show in Orlando. As of 2006, he began working for Westwood, as an expert analyst, however, this period of time when he didn’t work as a coach ended in 2008, when Bowden’s return was announced as he became the head football coach at the University of North Alabama, in Florence. Under Terry Bowden, the Lions played in three NCAA Division II Playoffs.
In 2011, Terry began working for the University of Akron, and valuably so as Bowden was assigned to two more years with them, and will remain in the position throughout 2017-18.
When it comes to his personal life, Terry is married to Sheryl, and they have six children – he has been accused of cheating on his wife, however, both have publicly denied the rumours.
