When it comes to news coverage in the United States, Lionel Messi is no stranger. Within a month of his arrival, he had led Inter Miami to its first-ever medal and a berth in the U.S. Open semifinals with a victory over Cincinnati.
This time, though, the emphasis isn’t only on the FIFA World Cup winner; even his security has been spotted running along the sidelines in an effort to keep unwanted visitors off the field. Even as the Miami players celebrated the game-tying goal, Messi, the team’s leading scorer in 2023, was being closely monitored by his security.

David Beckham, former England captain and co-owner of Inter Miami, endorsed him to multiple local media outlets, including the Nation. There are others who share the burden of ensuring Mesis’s safety, though. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner reportedly has a staff of fifty people working around the clock under the direction of Chueko to assure his safety in Miami.
